One step from Heaven…

We remember you all.  Our  beautiful ones.  Your stories have touched our
heart in ways words can never fully express.  We remember each one of you,
your struggles, and your triumphs.  How you were so mistreated and malnourished,
and also misunderstood, by a world that did not know how to help you.

Eventually, you found your way here.  This was to be your sanctuary,
your comfort zone, a place where you could once again be free to live your life as
you should be able to.  A place where love abounds, kindness flows like honey.
Cuddles, pats, playtime, yummy food, soft snugly beds at night, and not a worry
about whether you would arise to meet the morning sun.  Lots of people who
loved you, cared for you, encouraged you to enjoy life once again.

But sometimes, all the love and care in the world just isn’t enough.  No matter how
carefully we cared for you, loved you, treasured you…….it just wasn’t enough.
No veterinary care in the world could help you.  Your poor bodies were too
broken, malnourished, deformed, hurt bashed and bruised.
Your will to survive was all but taken from you as well.

All of us here who have loved you and cared for you, have cried rivers of tears,
but even they could not wash away the harm that had been inflicted upon you.
In the short time you have stayed with us, we have been blessed and privileged.
Each of you has shown us your love and faithfulness, even if just for a day.
Even in your weakened state, your eyes have shown us your souls.
We love you all, and we thank you.

We feel so sad at your passing, but we feel honoured that you chose to be with us,
in your one last step before Heaven.  Every time we see the clouds fill the sky we
know and feel you all, and as raindrops fall from Heaven, a tear falls from our
cheeks in memory of you, our special ones.
And just as the Rainbow chases the Sun, we will go on fighting to help others like you, and we will endeavour to prevent such cruelty happening to others as it has happened to you.

We WILL help SAVE an Innocent life

We will see you all again, beyond the Rainbow Bridge.

Love from the team at NSW Animal Rescue

16th of March 2009 was a sad day for the staff at the rescue as we said goodbye to Pup Pup.
This sweet little chook was dumped at a Sydney pound and has been at our shelter for
just over 3 years.

Her microchip records indicate that she was born in January 1992, although she really
did not seem anything like 17 years old.  Pup was playful and spritely right to the end.
